La Batalla De Puebla part 2

At the time of the battle Benito Juarez was the president of Mexico and the French army was considered the strongest after the battle of Napoleon. Mexico didn't have much control at the time because they were in a big debt and had no control. For them to be i a big debt in didn't help them with the treaties and deals they were making. It made everything go down the drain for Mexico.

When the French armies were still located near the shores and some soldiers were patrolling a small are near a town a couple of people within the town saw them getting near the town and with riffles in their hands, they over reacted and thought that the French armies were going to start a war. That misunderstanding

Batalla De Puebla part 1

Why is Cinco de Mayo celebrated and what does it represent and mean? For many people that don't know the history of Mexico it means another day to miss out at work and to get drunk and eat more . But to many Mexican's, Latino's and Mexican's at heart it's the day where it lead for Mexico to start fighting for their independence.

Batalla de Puebla in English means battle for the village . The battle was fought against French forces, The battle came about because of misunderstandings from the French forces to leave the coast . Mexican's took in the wrong impression when they saw French soldiers wandering miles away from the coast with rifles, but to make the matter worse all negotiations for the withdrawal broke down.

Dia De Los Muertos (Day Of The Dead)

Have you ever celebrated the day of the dead ,or how Mexico knows it El Dia De Los Muertos? Instead of mourning and feeling sorrow for your loved one's have you ever just thrown a party for them. Dia de los muertos is a tradition in my culture. It is a festival and a tradition to honor you loved ones and families to throw them a festive. How can anyone throw a party for a loved one has passed on, you may ask yourself? Well, read and find out.
On the day of the dead we honor our loved ones by preparing them their favorite meals. Usually in Mexico, people gather around in the cemetery and put food ,flowers, and toys for their loved ones. It is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. The 1st day is for the the children that have passed away . In Mexico that day is known as the day of the little angels. The 2nd day is for the people 18 and up that have passed on. We make pan de muerto. Also know as Bread of the dead . On day of the dead any type of food that they loved to eat when they were with us, can be put on their tomb. In Mexico, all the people in the town gather at the cemetery and pay their respects. Usually extra food is made. Some for the loved ones and some for the people that are gathering. This type of tradition may sound sad and hurtful, but it is a big festival and a happy time for everyone.Since many people migrate somewhere new, not many can co to their loved ones graves so they set a table and put a picture of their loved one and light a candle.
You maybe wondering how is each generation different form the last? Each generation is different form the last generation. Every generation adds something new to the table or to their loved ones grave. Even thought each generation is different form the last, and more in to this century, each generation still tries to preserve the old tradition. Each generation can be more connected with one family member than another, but no matter who they hate and loved they still set something for them as a reminder that, that person existed. That's how each generation is different from the last generation.
Dia De Los Muertos is one of the symbolism, because it is said to believe that the souls of the departed return to join their friends, and families in the land of the living. The Pan De Muerto (Bread of the Dead) has symbols of bones, and skulls, Usually on top of the bread there is a cross on top of it. There is also Calaveras de Azucar it maybe known as the Dead Love Sugar. They are considered gifts, and tokens of love. Many art that is made for Day of the dead is never made to scare people. In fact many people portray every symbol and the day as a happy day to spend time with your loved ones soul again. Another symbol is the
cempasúchitl (Marigolds), which have been considered the special flower of the dead since pre-Hispanic times. It was believed that the dead can recognize the marigolds by sight and smell, and this flower became a sort of lure in decorations and offerings. It said that the Cempasuchitl (Marigold) helps guide the soul from the underworld.
Day of the Dead is not a very tragic day. It is a very joyful day. Your loved one soul comes back and feasts with you. Day of the dead is day to remember the happy times you spend with that person. It's a day of laughter and joy. Not a day for tears and sorrow. It can be, but it's said that every tear you shed for that person, makes it a lot harder for their soul to return. It is a very festive day filled with all beautiful sights, and smells.

Los Niños Héroes

Have you ever heard of the day of Los Niños Héroes? Los Niños Héroes translated means boy heros. Los Niños Héroes is a day of remembrance that all Mexicans will never forget. Every year to honor them only the Chapultepec Castle (Castillo de Chapultepec in Spanish, on the right hand side) raises the Mexican flag up on September the 13. Behind this day is a very historical story that no one forgets.
Los Niños Héroes were six teenage boys who were serving in the Mexican-American war. On September 8,1847 the Battle of Molino del Rey lead to The Chapultepec castle. Antonio Lopez of Santa Anna , president of Mexico , knew that if the Americans were to attack the castle Mexico would belong to America. But, it was not up to him to decide if America was to attack , it was up to General Winfield Scott, and as fate had it he decided to attack the castle. The Chapultepec castle was only gaurded with at least 400 men.
When dawn came on the September 12 , the Americans started out the war with an artillery barrage against Chapultepec. The artillery barrage went out through out the whole day and stopped at dark and continued on the next morning, September
13. A couple hours later it was then 8 am on September 13 when, General Scott ordered for the artillery to stop he then gave the order for the American soldiers to charge.America had the Chapultepec castle completely surrounded when they charged in.
General Bravo who was a general in the Mexican war was the one who gave out the retreat order when he saw that there was no hope. Everyone, all but 6 mexican cadets retreated. The six cadets each fought bravely and died. Each one died fighting then the last one standing was a cadet by the name of Juan Escutia. It is told by first hand accounts that Juan Escutia was about to be captured by American soldiers at the very top of the castle. Before the soldiers could have gotten hold of Juan, Juan grabbed the Mexican flag preventing it from being taken from the enemy, wrapped it around his body and jumped off the castle and died.
After Juan jumped from the castle the Americans had no way of pu
tting up the American flag when someone jumped off a castle with their homeland's flag wrapped around them . General Scott seeing the tragedy and bravery the six cadets, Juan de la Barrera, Juan Escutia, Francisco Márquez, Agustín Melgar, Fernando Montes de Oca and Vicente Suárez, he retreated letting the cadets die in honor .One thing is certain, all these young men died defending their country's honor. The great monument of Los Niños Héroes is a tribute to their memory and sacrifice.

Geronimo Hero or villian?

When you scream Geronimo do you ever picture his face? The face of an Apache tribe member looking for vengeance? All hero's are portrayed as honest and life savers. But if Geronimo killed many than does that make him a hero?
Around the mid 1850's Geronimo and his tribe were at peace with neighboring Mexican towns ,until when camping outside a Mexican village called Kas-ki-yeh. They camped there for several nights when they left to go make some trades and left a few warriors to guard the women and children and the camp while the rest of them went to trade. On the way back to the camp they crossed paths with several women and children that told them Mexican troops attacked their camp. When they returned back to the camp they found all the guard warriors dead and many of the women and children dead as well and among them were Geronimo's wife, mother and his three children which caused him to hate all Mexicans in return and turned him from a peaceful council man to a fierce warrior.
After the death of his family he then slaughtered many Mexicans and he then joined an Apache band called Chiricahuas and raided Mexico and across the borders to the United States.Geronimo fought against both Mexican troops and American troops as they all began to colonize the Apache homeland ,but around 1876 when Liuetenant Colonel George F. Crook made a peace treaty with Geronimo, but soon ended with chaos around 1876 when the U.S Government tried to relocate the Apaches to a waste land in Arizona which then caused the Apaches to revolt. Spurred by Geronimo many Apaches left and resumed their war with America and raided many American settlements.
In 1882 the state of Arizona recalled General George Crook to conduct a campaign against Apaches, and with the help of at least 5,000 American soldiers and 500 Indians help captured Geronimo. After chasing him for about 16,000 miles into the Mountains of Sonora, Mexico, tired and outnumbered Geronimo then surrendered on March 27,1886 at
Cañon de Los Embudos in Sonora, Mexico. After captured they started back to Arizona ,and once nearing the border Geronimo feared he and his followers would be murdered managed to escape with the Chief Naiche, 11 warriors and a few women and boys who made it back to Sierra Madra. At a conference on Septemeber 3,1886 in Skeleton Canyon,Arizona , General Miles induced Geronimo to surrender once again, promising him that, after an indefinite exile in Florida, he and his followers would be permitted to return to Arizona. As a result that promise was never kept.Geronimo and his followers were shipped in box cars to Florida and put to hard labor.Geronimo died of pneumonia in February 1907 not before making a surprising appearance at President Theodore Roosevelt's inaugural parade but was never able to see his homeland Arizona.
In a way Geronimo was both a hero and a villian. The only thing that made him seem like a villian was the death of his family. You have to be a hero if you are capable of fighting two nations but and never getting caught. But in the end he became a peaceful man
