Why is Cinco de Mayo celebrated and what does it represent and mean? For many people that don't know the history of Mexico it means another day to miss out at work and to get drunk and eat more . But to many Mexican's, Latino's and Mexican's at heart it's the day where it lead for Mexico to start fighting for their independence.
Batalla de Puebla in English means battle for the village . The battle was fought against French forces, The battle came about because of misunderstandings from the French forces to leave the coast . Mexican's took in the wrong impression when they saw French soldiers wandering miles away from the coast with rifles, but to make the matter worse all negotiations for the withdrawal broke down.
